Online press conference by TASS

On January 20, 2021, online press conference was held at the St. Petersburg TASS Press Center, dedicated to the presentation of the documentary film and exhibition about the history and legacy of the Northern convoys.

The press conference was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Arbi Abubakarov, film director Natalya Shadkhan, founder of the regional public organization “Polar Convoy” Yuri Alexandrov, Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation Margarita Mudrak, member of the St. Petersburg Artists Union and the author of the exhibition about Northern convoys Nadezhda Anfalova, as well as the Honorary Consul of Australia in St. Petersburg Sebastian Fitzlayon.

The Northern Convoys International Centre was represented by Director Vladimir Solomonov.

A five-minute fragment of the film dedicated to the Northern convoys of 1941-1945, their importance in the history of the Great Patriotic War and international cooperation was shown at the press conference. The film was created on the initiative of the Committee for External Relations, while the representatives of the International Centre - Vladimir Solomonov and Conservator of the Memorial Museum Sergey Kurbatov took part in the filming.

The film is planned to be shown on historical TV channels, as well as at the exhibition in the library of the General Staff of the Armed Forces in St. Petersburg, which is scheduled to open in August 2021 - during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the first allied convoy. The most important part of the exhibition will be stands dedicated to the history and heroic pages of the Northern Convoys. The “NCIC” Foundation took part in compiling the information content of the stands.

The Northern Convoys International Centre expresses deep gratitude to the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, as well as to the filmmakers: Natalya Shadkhan, Olga Koroleva, Nadezhda Anfalova, and everyone who took part in its creation.
