The Northern Convoys International Centre presented a paper at the conference of the International Committee for Museums of Arms and Military History (ICOMAM) of the International Council of Museums. The conference entitled 'The military historical legacy; mirror of the past, reflections for the future' is taking place these days in Toledo, Spain. Vladimir Solomonov, Director of the International Centre and Elena Eltz, Associate Professor of International Humanitarian Relations Department at St. Petersburg State University, presented a joint report "The experience of creating Memorial Complex "Northern Сonvoys" in St. Petersburg, Russia". The report introduced the international museum community to the activities of the International Centre in preserving the historical memory of the Northern Convoys in Russia, including the experience of creating in Saint Petersburg of Memorial Museum and Memorial Complex dedicated to this page of the WWII history. The authors of the report stressed the importance of international cultural ties for the embodiment of the basic principles of the future museum's exposition, with a focus on the lives of people from different countries who took part in the Convoys.
Beside the International Centre and St. Petersburg State University, reports were presented by representatives of the museum community from the UK, Belgium, Portugal, Germany, France, and Spain.
