Director of the International Centre met with students of the St. Petersburg Gymnasium

On September 13th, 2022, Director of the Northern Convoys International Centre Vladimir Solomonov met with high school pupils of the Gymnasium located in Vyborgsky District of St. Petersburg. Vladimir Solomonov spoke with the children about the history of the Northern Convoys and presented some items from the collection of the International Centre. Great interest among the pupils was a paper cutter with engraved inscription Convoy PQ and a pre-war dictionary of nautical terms. A pennant with our logo was handed over to the gymnasium museum. Children actively asked questions about the convoys, several people expressed willingness to write essays about warships and vessels of the Northern Convoys, and the events that occurred during convoy operations. The interest in the subject of the Northern Convoys shown by the younger generation is crucial for preserving the memory of the heroes of this most important page in the history of the Great Patriotic War and World War II.
