Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the “NCIC” Foundation

The meeting was devoted to the results of the Foundation's work in 2020, as well as our plans to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Northern Convoys in 2021.

The most important event within the framework of the meeting was the donation of the painting “Allied convoy in the Barents Sea, 1942” and the album dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Northern convoys to the Russia in 1941. The painting and the album were donated for the future Memorial Museum of the Northern Convoys History by the family of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and the Northern Convoys, 1st Rank Captain Platon Patrushev.

In the main part of the meeting Director of the “NCIC” Foundation Vladimir Solomonov presented report on the work carried out by the Foundation in 2020, as well as plans for celebrating the coming anniversary of the Convoys. Thus, on August 31, 2021, festive events are planned including laying flowers at the Arctic Convoys Monument, the international action “Putting letters in the Capsule of Peace and Goodness”, that is to be opened on the convoys’ 100th anniversary, rewarding the winners of the creative competition “Together we are WORLD!” and a gala concert for veterans and their families.

It is also planned to fire a blank shot from the Naryshkin Bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Northern Convoys. These and other scheduled events gained the approval and support of the Committees and Administration of St. Petersburg, the Ministries of Culture of Russia and the Arkhangelsk Region.

Members of the Board of Trustees have given positive assessment of the work carried out by the “NCIC” Foundation during 2020, and have expressed approval and support of the plans to celebrate the convoys’ 80th anniversary.

The special guest of the meeting Elena Smyaglikova, Vice rector of Admiral Makarov State University, spoke about the celebrations planed in Arkhangelsk in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Northern Convoys.
