On December 4, 2025, the historical park "Russia – My History" hosted the grand opening of a comprehensive program of events dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the beginning of Russia's exploration of the Northern Sea Route. The project was organized by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg in partnership with th  "Arctic Initiatives Center" Organization, the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Institution of Culture "Museum and Exhibition Center", and the Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.

During the official opening ceremony, reports were delivered by leading experts in Arctic research, representatives of government authorities, heads of key enterprises, scientific and educational institutions whose work is connected with the development and exploration of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route.

One of the key moments of the opening ceremony was the signing of cooperation agreements between the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg and the "Arctic Initiatives Center" as well as with the "Northern Convoys International Centre" Foundation.

Vladimir Solomonov, Director of the "International Center of the Northern Convoys" Fund, addressed the project organizers and guests with a welcoming speech. He spoke about the Fund's work in preserving the memory and researching the history of the Northern Convoys. Vladimir Petrovich expressed special gratitude to the "Arctic Initiatives Center" for elevating the 500-year history of the Northern Sea Route to a new level of research and cultural significance through its work.

A particular point of pride for our Fund was the opportunity to present guests with unique exhibits from our own collection, which tell the heroic and tragic story of the 1941-1945 Northern Convoys.

The "Northern Convoys International Centre" Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the "Arctic Initiatives Center" for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this significant event for the city and the country. We wish the project successful implementation and all its visitors vivid impressions from exploring the history and culture of the Russian North!
